Inaugurated in 1938, National Peanut Festival Association Inc. is an organizer for the peanut festival to honor peanut growers and to celebrate the harvest season. Based in Dothan, Ala., it holds festivities, including numerous fun-filled family events, such as amusement rides, animal acts, agricultural displays, live music concerts, beauty pageants, arts and crafts displays, contests, food, a two-hour parade and tons of peanuts. National Peanut Festival Association Inc. offers facilities, such as 150 acres of developed and undeveloped land, 55 acres of lighted parking, over 38,000 square feet of indoor exhibition space, an open-air amphitheater area, a livestock show arena and two covered barns.
