Lee County Humane Society is a 501 ( c ) ( 3 ) organization located in Auburn, AL. Formed in 1974 to rescue stray and unwanted animals in Lee County, the LCHS has grown to provide many services for our citizens. We partner with the cities of Auburn and Opelika as well as Lee County to house stray and unwanted animals. We also provide adoptions services, educational programs and community awareness. To celebrate, we are offering a reduced adoption processing fee for both adult cats and kittens. If you are thinking about adopting a cat or already have one, here are some cat care tips offered with the help of the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Before You Bring Your Cat HomeYou will need food, food dish, water bowl, interactive toys, brush, comb, safety cat collar, scratching post, litter and litter box. FeedingAn adult cat should be fed one large or two smaller meals each day. Kittens from 6 to 12 weeks need to be fed four times a day. Kittens from three to six months need to be fed three times a day. You can either feed specific meals, throwing away any leftover canned food after 30 minutes or free-feed dry food ( keeping food out all the time ).

This shelter is all right. I wish they could update their website with all the current pets and their pictures a little more, but then again, animal turnover can be high, and they're a non-profit...

Such a great place! Staff is friendly and helpful. Always clean. They do a great job with behavioral assessments and take the time to get to know the animals. I know that sick animals get good...
