The mission of the Florence Indian Mound Museum is to serve as a center for stewardship, education, and understanding of the people indigenous to the Shoals area. The Museum is dedicated to preserving the Woodland period landscape of the site and fostering community dialogue through public programming. The Florence Indian Mound Museum is a cultural center that provides foundations for education, community engagement, and public discourse. and we aim to continue to grow the Museum’s character as a premier cultural institution in the Shoals.

Billed as the Tennessee Valley's largest Domiciliary mound, it stands 42 feet high and a base diameter of 310 feet. This mound is called Wawmanona by the Native Americans..a most impressive...

This museum has the best documentation of history. The museum is laid out in a very unique way with a historic timeline as you wander through the museum. The artifacts they have are outstanding...
