Homewood Municipal Court

The Homewood Police Department provides law enforcement and life and property protection services. It serves more than 25,000 residents in an area of approximately seven square miles in Homewood in Alabama. The department operates patrol, detective and administrative divisions. The Homewood Police Department maintains a staff of over 70 officers. It offers 24-hour protection and other specialized services. The department s patrol division is comprised of several patrol shifts and maintains a special operations unit that oversees traffic safety, parking control and special events. Jefferson County Family Court exercises jurisdiction of proceedings for children who are delinquent, dependent and in need of supervision. The court also exercises jurisdiction over other proceedings, including establishment of paternity and child support enforcement and protection from abuse. It follows the Alabama Rules of Juvenile Procedure and the Alabama Rules of Civil Procedure. Jefferson County Family Court administers adolescent substance abuse, court appointed special advocate, electronic monitoring and court educational enhancement programs. It also administers family therapy, batterer intervention classes and senior aide programs. Its teen court undertakes cases for public intoxication, shoplifting, vandalism and disorderly conduct.
