Larkin J. Daniels, M.D. is a native of Mobile, Alabama. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Birmingham-Southern College and graduated magna cum laude. He graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine in 1992. While a medical student, he was awarded a Stanley J. Sarnoff Fellowship for Research in Cardiovascular Disease. This award provided for an additional year of training as a Research Fellow at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital. Following medical school, he received his surgical training at Duke University. This training included a five-year residency in general surgery, a three-year Surgical Research Fellowship and an additional two-year residency in cardio-thoracic surgery. Dr. Daniels is board certified in both general surgery and cardio-thoracic surgery. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
