Having evolved over the years, the library has a rich history dating back to 1958 when Martha C. Moore envisioned a local library for Gardendale's children. Since then, the library has grown alongside the city and is currently housed in a 12,642 square foot facility that underwent an extensive expansion and renovation in 2012. As a member library of the Jefferson County Public Libraries, the Gardendale Public Library actively participates in the life of the community, continuously evolving to better serve its patrons and foster a love for reading and lifelong learning.
