The Alabama Center for Dispute Resolution has been serving as the state office of dispute resolution since 1994, working in collaboration with the courts, the Alabama State Bar, state agencies, schools, community mediation initiatives, and businesses to promote early and peaceful resolution of disputes. As the administrative arm of the Alabama Supreme Court Commission on Dispute Resolution, the Center offers a range of services including mediation, arbitration, and private judging, and maintains rosters of qualified mediators and arbitrators. They also provide resources, training, and support to individuals and organizations involved in alternative dispute resolution. The Center recently launched Alabama's First Landlord Tenant Mediation Program, which offers free court-ordered mediation services for landlords and tenants involved in unlawful detainer, eviction actions, and landlord-tenant disputes filed in Alabama courts. Thanks to grants received in 2022, the Center is able to provide up to two hours of mediation per case. Mediators participating in the program are registered with the Center and have undergone training to ensure effective and fair resolution of disputes.
