History

Mr. Gerald L Baker formed the company in 1961 and built it to be The Premiere Piano store in North East Alabama. Originally, Mr. Baker started on Hoke Street in East Gadsden where he was servicing and tuning pianos and opened his first store with the Baldwin Piano and Organ line. Later he moved to Agricola Shopping Center and after a few years moved to Freeman Plaza on East Meighan Boulevard. On June 11, 1996, Mr. Baker purchased the present location at 211 Broad Street. As he moved locations he changed some of the dealerships in acquisition of others. With the downturn in the economy, the store has been flexible enough to move its focus from primarily a Piano showroom, service center to a premiere Music Store. Our entire community was saddened by the passing of Mr. Baker in January 2011, but his legacy lives on!
