OUR MISSION: The Alabama Network of Children's Advocacy Centers, Inc ( ANCAC or The Network ) is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to promote the multi-disciplinary process in fostering an abuse-free society for Alabama's children and support the development of the children's advocacy center model through public awareness, training and collaborative partnerships. The Network achieves this mission through 28 full-member advocacy centers and one pilot project that serve 54 counties with forensic interviewing, evaluations and counseling. The individual centers are located throughout the state and ultimately operate as separate, private, non-profit agencies. However, the centers do come together for various occurrences. Founded in 1993, Star Technology Assistance, also known as the Star System, is an agency that is working under a grant made in affiliation with the Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services in Montgomery. Unique in the nation, it is comprised of state and federal programs that provide a continuum of services from birth through life for Alabamians with disabilities. Its services include: early intervention; children s rehabilitation services; vocational rehabilitation services; and State of Alabama independent living/homebound services. Star Technology Assistance maintains long-standing partnerships with local school systems, colleges and universities, junior colleges, vocational technical schools and community rehabilitation programs.
