The City of Adamsville, located in Alabama, has its roots dating back to 1862, with significant settlement occurring post-Civil War. The establishment of a railroad depot in 1889, thanks to land donated by resident William Adams, catalyzed the town's growth and development along the railway line.
Adamsville experienced a boom in the 1890s following the discovery of a large coal seam in the area, marking coal mining and coke production as key elements of its economy. The city was reincorporated in 1953, following a devastating fire in 1918 that impacted much of its downtown, including the original depot.
