HistorySMFA began in a historic beautiful downtown location in New Haven Connecticut. We loved serving the Yale and New Haven community . We moved to Maine and opened a gallery in Bangor near the University of Maine and had several great years there, finally moving to Portland Maine in 2006. We feature a photography show each month along with a painting show. The gallery curates a strong mix of the best artists working in Maine and New England today. There a quite a few Portland artists as well.SpecialtiesSMFA specializes in contemporary regional and local fine art. We feature prominent artists work in paintings,photography and sculpture in a beautiful space in Old Port on the corner of Free St and Temple St. across from Nickelodeon theatre. We also feature SMFA Vintage, rotating paintings from important late artists with strong ties to Maine. Enjoy this mix of exciting and fresh work in our welcoming friendly space. We are also fine art consultants for your business and home or personal collections. We have been building collections since 1992 in Maine.
