Liljeqvist Design & Konst
Vadstena-based artist Mattias Liljeqvist explores the intersection of nature and art. For 18 years, Mattias has worked as a full-time artist, primarily specializing in trompe l'oeil illusion painting, with numerous mural paintings in public environments (such as Vadstena Library) and other conceptual project assignments.
His passion for nature stems from his upbringing in Småland (landscape in southern Sweden). The forest provides a sense of security and magic that has stayed with him throughout his life and holds a special place in his heart.
Since 2017, Mattias has focused on art photography featuring natural motifs as part of the "Swedish Nature" project, where he combines these motifs with trompe l'oeil techniques to create a bridge between our indoor environment and the real outdoors. The aim is for viewers to feel as if leaves and branches are extending into the room, while simultaneously feeling the urge to step beyond the painting and into the forest.
