The castle is situated in the center of Linkoping. The oldest part of the building is dated 1153. The Linkoping Castle- & Cathedral museum tells the story about a medieval Bishop’s stronghold that was turned into a castle and a residence for the county governor. The treasury chamber in the castle holds unique silver and textiles from the Cathedral dated back to the Middle Ages. Discover the castle's 900 years of history on our digital screens. Find out more about the Battle of Stångebro 1598 and the Bloodbath of Linköping 1600. The museum is also accessible for disabled. Guided groups by prior arrangement at all times. We have guided tours every saturday at 11.00. During summer we have one guided tour every day at 11.00.
