Santa Barbara Museum of Art stores antiquities from Asia, Europe and America. The museum s collection includes works on 20th century American art, manuscripts, photography and contemporary art. Its Asian collection consists of more than 2,600 objects. Its American Art section includes approximately 400 paintings and sculptures. The Santa Barbara Museum of Art also serves as a teaching resource for educators. It offers a number of programs for teachers and students and sponsors various exhibitions. It provides visitors guided tours of the art gallery. The museum has a library for its staff, volunteers, members and general public. The library offers research assistance to visitors, referral to additional resources and access to art and art sales index. There's a lot to discover in this small but mighty museum full of culture, art, and history! It's well worth a visit if you're interested in contemporary, classical, and progressive art.
