Iconisch Maastrichts café uitgebreid met ouderwetse brasserie Café In den Ouden Vogelstruys op het Vrijthof in Maastricht, een van de bekendste cafés van Nederland en iconisch voor Maastricht, ondergaat dit jaar voor het eerst sinds bijna 290 jaar een ingrijpende gedaanteverwisseling. Het bedrijf, ook wel de ‘Huiskamer van Maastricht’ genoemd, is vanaf maart 2019 uitgebreid met een brasserie waarin de sfeer van het Maastricht van jaren ’50, begin jaren ’60 opnieuw tot leven wordt gewekt. Brasserie De Vogelstruys is ondergebracht in het naastgelegen pand, waar tot voor kort een ander restaurant zat. Het café en de brasserie hebben een gezamenlijk terras, dat met in totaal 150 stoelen meteen een van de grootste terrassen van Maastricht is. De Vogelstruys, gevestigd op een plek waar al sinds het begin van de veertiende eeuw horeca wordt bedreven, is tevens de geboortegrond van het bekende Preuvenemint.

Grand Café D'n Ingel Why Grand Café It's not so much that a “grand café” is appropriate for a city so influenced by French culture and tradition but rather that we aim to be grand and strive for excellence in everything we do. Our façade is so narrow and modest that only those who actually enter our doors can really appreciate and discover the greatness of D'n Ingel. But once inside, it quickly becomes obvious how appropriate the old Maastricht saying is here: “Maastricht may not be wide but it is long.” The building is also as tall as it is long, due to the two upper floors that have been completely restored to their original glory. Two period rooms, the Gabriel room and the Michael room, are available here for your dinner, lunch, meeting, reception, or family celebration. But this also is not enough to justify our status as a Grand Café. The interior, the atmosphere, and the ambience are of course all part of what makes a café a Grand Café. But in the end, it's the staff that counts the most. It's their enthusiasm and passion to serve you as their guest that makes the title of Grand Café more than appropriate. A modern café-restaurant is of course not possible without a high-quality kitchen. Although our chef and his staff are rarely in the spotlight, they also more than deserve the title “Grand” due to the high quality of everything they prepare for our guests. Their passion and unwavering focus on quality and service have helped to ensure that café D'n Ingel, for some years now, has proudly and deservedly carried the name of Grand Café D’n Ingel.
