The Riga Film Museum is special with its both close-up and personal attitude, and high quality standards in everything it offers. The compact and cozy facilities are a perfect venue for meetings, exchanging ideas, and learning not only for the industry professionals, but for any visitor. Founded in 1988, the Riga Film Museum is the only museum devoted to this field of art in Latvia. In 2006, the Museum commenced a dynamic cycle of exhibitions and events at its current premises in Old Riga, and within a short period has become a certain brand in the Latvian cultural scene. The Museum's strategy all these years has been directed at providing high quality cultural products, creating and promoting an excellent and diverse audiovisual environment, and educating the audience by ensuring the accessibility to the knowledge of film. Since 2010 the Riga Film Museum is a structural unit of the Latvian Academy of Culture. The Museum is comprised of the office and the exhibition space at 10 Peitavas Street, Old Riga, and the collection, which is located in Pārdaugava, 37/39 Eduarda Smiļģa Street, in the Eduards Smiļģis Theatre Museum.
