Experience an exciting journey through time into the slate industry of the 20th century. Discover the path from slate, from its creation and extraction to the finished product and its onward transport. Explore the working conditions of the Martelinger slate quarry worker. During the official opening times of the Slate Museum Haut-Martelange, the visitor has the possibility to discover the history of the buildings on the surface or the underground world* of the slate quarries. A ride on the industrial train (upon availability, Sundays from May to October) as well as a visit to the ancient’s café are also a must. During guided tours you will learn more about the world of slate, its extraction, splitting and drilling. Guided tours are held on request and must be booked two weeks in advance.
