7th Fort of Kaunas Fortress is a defensive fortification built in Zaliakalnis district of Kaunas during XIX century as implementation of the first phase of conctruction of Russian Empire Kaunas Fortress.In August of 1915, there had been no battle for 7th Fort. Fort had been ruled by Kaiser’s German troops from 1915 to 1919.From 1941 to 1943 7th Fort became concentration camp. There had been thousands of victims in the fort territory from 30 June, 1941 until closure of concentration camp on 10, August, 1941. Most of them had been Jewish residents of Kaunas.Fort regeneration was initiated in spring of 2009 when Lithuanian Non Commercial organization “Military Heritage Center” became the owner of 7th Fort.7th Fort for the firts time in its history opened its gates to the visitors in spring of 2011. It is military fortification museum, guided tours, place for historical and cultural activity, historical reenactions and koncerts.
