Turra
Turra Lodge Farm and Gardens is a family owned and operated farm located on the border of Laois and Carlow in the south east of Ireland. The farm breeds American miniature horses and pygmy goats but is also home to a variety of animals including donkeys, soay sheep, pot bellied pigs, chickens, ducks and a snowy owl. The gardens were once the site of an opencast coal mine which uncovered a natural spring creating the lake at Turra Lodge Farm. Over the past two decades the Kelly Family have developed an extensive array of plants, trees and shrubbery in one of the most unique landscapes you will ever see, transforming the abandoned coal mine into a lakeside sanctuary for flora, fauna and visitors alike. Turra Lodge Farm and Gardens are open to the public every Saturday. Visit with the animals and explore our various lakeside gardens. We have a horsebox cafe on site serving a variety of treats and refreshments, including barista coffee, ice-cream, soft drinks and freshly baked goods.
