Step inside Hull’s oldest museum and discover hidden stories from the struggle against slavery. Wilberforce House was the birthplace of William Wilberforce, Hull’s famous anti-slavery campaigner. Now a historic museum, our galleries expose the realities of the transatlantic slave trade and its legacies. Discover journals and artefacts that once belonged to William Wilberforce. Explore important items linked to slavery and abolition. And get a fascinating glimpse into the rich tapestry of West African culture. Due to their subject matter, some of the galleries upstairs contain images and content that may be particularly distressing for some people or inappropriate for younger audiences. This is primarily on the first floor galleries within the main house.
