Whitefriars Bridge, also known as the Bridge of St Martins, boasts a complex history dating back to its original construction around 1110-1120. After being demolished in 1549, it was rebuilt in stone in 1591, featuring a large arch and two turrets, only to be taken down again during the reign of James I between 1603 and 1625.
