70 Fore Street
Totnes, England TQ9 5RU
Totnes Museum is now open for 2024 on Fridays only at the moment until we have more volunteers. You can still discover the history of the town from its Saxon origins to its current identity as a unique rural town flavoured with a Bohemian culture developed throughout the 20th century. Walk through a restored 16th century Elizabethan House and Garden to experience architecture and life from the building's first 100 years with our Tudor kitchen and living spaces. Learn about Charles Babbage's Totnes origins and his legacy in creating the early age of Computing including examples of parts of his Difference Engine. We hope to have new exhibitions of things to see while our archive service can cater for those seeking to find out more about the history of Totnes and the people who have made it their home for over 1000 years.
