The Wheatsheaf has been a local landmark since 1818 when it was a coaching house, since then it had been turned into a pub/ club being the heart of the community with live music and shows from the likes of Oasis and Radiohead before being taken over by JD Wetherspoon, recently celebrating its 16th birthday as such. The Wheatsheaf has been awarded Regional Real Ale Pub of the Year for the third year in a row at the annual company awards ceremony.
