Foss Islands Road
York, England YO31 7UR
Built in 1490, The Red Tower has stood firm along the walls for centuries, and has seen a recent overall and renovation into a functioning Community Interest Company. The ground floor has been been converted into a community cafe with hot and cold drinks, cakes and biscuits and a restroom. The upstairs has also seen a renovation to become an open and functioning space for charities, community groups and businesses. The ethos of the Red Tower is ultimately to become an inclusive, welcoming space for creative, learning and social activities, run by local people, encouraging local and wider community participation.
