For the more adventurous there are plenty of outdoor activities on offer from walking and cycling to rock climbing and abseiling. If you prefer a slower paced break away there is plenty to keep you entertained from fine dining restaurants and cosy tearooms to art galleries and leisurely steam boat trips. Bowness is a bustling centre in Lakeland, with pretty Bowness Bay a mecca for water sports and Lake Windermere boat trips. We're within easy reach of the Windermere ferry across to Hawkshead and Beatrix Potter's historic home and just a short drive away are Ambleside, Grasmere and the two historic Wordsworth homes, Dove Cottage and Rydal Mount. Rooms at our Central Lakes B&B include a deluxe kingsize room with views of Lake Windermere, another double room, also with a Lake View and a double with a view into the woods towards the waterfall at the side of the cottage. Each room has a television, clock radio, hair dryer and tea and coffee making facilities. All rooms are en suite with toiletries and fresh towels supplied. Stockghyll Cottage is perfect for romantic breaks and walking/ touring holidays in the Central Lakes, our bed and breakfast has been awarded a 4 star rating and we serve a delicious breakfast menu which includes freshly prepared full cooked breakfast, homemade preserves and home-cooked bread. Children over 10 years are welcome and private off-road parking is available to guests on-site. We are not a licenced B&B, however guests are more than welcome to bring their own drinks.
