Welcome to Leeds Minster, the civic church for the City of Leeds. Churches have stood on this site for over 1000 years, with the current building dating to 1841 when it was founded by the great Victorian vicar Dr Walter Hook. At the time, this astonishing neo-Gothic building was the largest church built in England since St Paul's Cathedral. It was granted Minster status in 2012. We invite everyone to walk around the building and soak up the atmosphere of a church rich in history and heritage; light a votive candle; listen to the famous organ; and spend some time in prayer or quiet contemplation. To this today we continue our rich choral tradition, including Choral Evensong according to the Book of Common Prayer every Thursday (term-time only) and Sunday. All are welcome to join us for all our services (see website for details).
