The Fry Art Gallery, established in 1987, showcases a remarkable collection of 20th-century paintings, prints, illustrations, and decorative designs primarily by artists connected to Great Bardfield. Emphasizing local talent, the gallery highlights the contributions of artists who settled in the area from the 1930s onward, including the notable John Aldridge RA.
Operated by a team of dedicated volunteers, the gallery is currently celebrating its 40th anniversary with special exhibitions, including "Finding a Home at the Fry," curated by Ella Ravilious. This exhibition features works that depict or were made for domestic spaces, alongside a selection of Richard Bawden's art from his later years.
