Cornhill Fountain, located on the north side of Cornhill at the south end of the Royal Exchange Buildings in London, was established to commemorate the Jubilee of the Metropolitan Drinking Fountain and Cattle Trough Association. This polished granite and bronze fountain, unveiled on May 3, 1911, replaced an earlier structure erected in 1859 by Samuel Gurney, Esq. MP.
The fountain, which cost £100,000 to erect, serves as a tribute to the association's contributions from 1859 to 1909. Notably, a bronze figure was stolen in 1989, leading to a replacement sculpted by Stephen Melton, which was unveiled by the Lord Mayor in November 1993 at a cost of £250,000.
