Coombe Farm was built in 1925 and was originally a working farm. Later, it became a hotel, winning a number of awards. In 2003, the house was closed as a hotel, but we continue to accommodate guests in three en suite cottage rooms, on a bed and breakfast basis. The rooms are spacious (accommodating two to four/five people) with their own doors into the grounds. Each room has a shower with WC and washbasin, television, heater, direct dial telephone, clock radio, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. There is ample parking close to the rooms. Breakfast is included in the room rate and is served to guests in the privacy of their rooms, with a table and chairs provided in each room for this purpose Coombe Farm has eleven acres of grounds and looks over a wooded valley to the sea. There is a heated outdoor pool with plenty of space for guests to sit out on sunny days. Streams run through the woods at the back of the property and to the front there is a paddock with several ponies, always happy for some attention! Peacocks strut around the gardens and you can be introduced to a friendly dog, rabbit and guinea pig, Coombe Farm is conveniently situated, away from the bustle of Looe but within a ten minute drive. A few miles further on is the famous fishing village of Polperro and a number of beautiful beaches lie within a few miles for those who want sandy stretches for bathing or bodysurfing or for catching crabs in the rock pools. The newly sunk Scylla (a ship to provide a reef for divers) is close by at Whitsand Bay. Walkers are well catered for with a number of options. The famous coastal path can be picked up within two miles and Bodmin Moor and Dartmoor are also close by. The world famous Eden Project is less than twenty miles away (we hold fast track tickets) and a few miles further on are the Lost Gardens of Heligan. The popular town of Fowey is around fifteen miles distant and a number of National Trust properties and other historic buildings lie within a twenty mile radius. There are numerous opportunities for water and other sports in the area. If you are interested in horseriding, whatever your ability, we can put you in touch with stables, including those who offer treks on Bodmin Moor. For golf enthusiasts there are a number of 18 hole golf courses nearby (the nearest 1 mile away). The city of Plymouth and the cathedral cities of Truro and Exeter are within easy reach. Indeed, both the North and South coast of Cornwall and Devon are accessible from Coombe Farm, making it an ideal base for a short or long stay in this part of England. There is a wide choice of pubs and formal/informal restaurants close by and advice can be given on the different locations. Taxis are easily arranged for those who do not wish to drive.
