An authentic medieval house with a rich past, La Bonbonnière was the dwelling place of the Dordogne river boatmen, and also that of Bergerac’s last washerwoman. La Bonbonnière is situated on Mirpe Place, a public square with a statue of Cyrano. Although it is in the heart of Bergerac’s old town, this is a very calm place, two steps from the centre of town, from the Dordogne river and its gabares (traditional flat-bottom boats), from museums and shops.
