Chateau de Voltaire
The Château de Voltaire was built by the author between 1758 and 1766. He spent the last twenty years of his life here - years that were the most productive of his entire career. At Ferney, Voltaire led his great campaigns against intolerance, put his hand to architecture and town planning, all the while continuing his literary output at this Château which became the focal point of intellectual life in Enlightenment Europe. Open: > 1st April to 31st October: from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. > All the year, upon reservation. Closed: > On Mondays from 1st April to 31st October. > 1st May.
