Built in 1760 by Victor Louis, famous architect of the Grand Théâtre in Bordeaux, Château Sainte Barbe is a property on the banks of the Garonne located in the towns of Ambès and Saint Louis de Montferrand, 20 minutes from Bordeaux and 8 minutes from the A10. Classified as a historical monument since 1996, it currently covers 28 hectares, more than 80% of which are planted with Merlot, the rest of the vines being divided between Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. The château produces two wines in AOC Bordeaux and Bordeaux Supérieur: Merlot Sainte Barbe and Château Sainte Barbe.
