Abbaye d'Art de Trizay

The Priory of St John the Evangelist was saved from ruin thank to an extensive restoration programme launched by Trizay Town Council in 1989 and completed in 2004. It is one of the most enigmatic historic buildings in the Saintes area. This large monastery has long been referred to as an "abbey" and it still is, even though it is actually a priory i.e. a daughter-house of a prestigious abbey.
