Alicante Bullring was inaugurated on June 15, 1888. It was designed by the Alicante architect Emilio Jover, after several reforms and restructuring throughout its history, it is one of the oldest active Arenas in the Valencian Community. From the year 1928, with the creation of the "Les Fogueres de Sant Joan" festivities, the Las Hogueras Bullfighting Fair was consolidated as a major Feria of summer in Spain. The greatness of the Arena and its large capacity give an idea about the importance of bullfights in Alicante during the 19th and 20th centuries, and other uses that have made it one of the most important cultural and economic assets in the city. Nowadays you can enjoy bullfighting shows in June, as well as fantastic concerts and other leisure and cultural events.
