The old bodega opened its doors for the first time in 1973 and for many years was the gathering point for all of North Zealand and the Copenhageners who had made the trip to Hornbæk. The place folded for a long number of years until the turn of the millennium when the place was closed down. On 1 May 2016, Restaurant Hornbæk Bodega reopened in its completely original style with the old leather-covered train seats from DSB's 1st class, and paintings inspired by the well-known artists such as Drachmann, Krøyer and Locher. Today, the well-known Danish styrre smørrebrød is served for lunch and the dish of the day combined with the Danish classics for the evening, the food is enjoyed in the unique and charming rooms or on the terrace. The bodega's premises lend themselves well to holding smaller lunch and evening parties.
