restaurant Signal
Signal was built as a train station in Westerstede in 1869. The railway line from Oldenburg to Leer. It led via Zwischenahn - Ocholt - Apen - Westerstede. After the structure had seen good and bad times over the decades, the Federal Railroad put it up for sale in the early 1980s. In order to prevent the threatened demolition of the building, which is now a listed building, Westersted citizens founded the "Bahnhofsverein - Freunde des Bahnhofs Westerstede e.V.". After a Westerstede entrepreneur had acquired the building, it was possible, together with the "Bahnhofsverein", to develop a usage concept for the station, which was restored down to the last detail as a monument. The former station restaurant - as "SIGNAL" in Westerstede main station - wants as a hearty pub and traditional restaurant offering its guests a varied cuisine.
