Petrohradská kolektiv is an artist-run initiative with its own cultural production and original dramaturgy. It’s a meeting point of experiments and contemporary arts founded in 2015. Artists working within Petrohradská kolektiv get space, freedom and needed attention. Our activities are aimed at exhibitions, educational practice, live art and creative cooperations with Czech and foreign artists. Petrohradská kolektiv wants to contribute to arts and culture in our society by supporting, presenting and producing (not only) new projects. The building that serves as Petrohradská kolektiv’s base was built in 1903 in Vršovice district in Prague. It used to be a mill and a bakery founded by the couple Hedvika and Karel Müller. By the end of 1930’s the building went under reconstruction to become a chocolate factory for the brand Korda and Co. Historically, the last resident of the building was the factory of Plants for Industrial Automation (Závody průmyslové automatizace) that was using the space for assembly workshops. Currently, the building is intended for demolition. In the meantime, Petrohradská kolektiv has been using the building as a center for cultural events and a platform for contemporary arts since 2015. There are 36 studios in the building that have been worked in by more than 200 artists since the beginning of our initiative. In addition to the studios, the space has a cinema Kino Petrohradská, community area Klub Petrohradská, a photo studio, a recording studio, Jedna Dva Tři Gallery, and facility for artistic residencies. Also the project is a base of community Radio Punctum and educational activities of Noise Kitchen. Check our websites for seasonal availability of individual spaces.
