The region on the left side of Lake Maggiore, just opposite the Maggia Delta, has a special charm. Although Ticino is a little poorer here and less developed in terms of tourism than Ascona or Locarno on the other shore, it is a little more authentic and warm. The grotto "Alla Taverna" is a good example of this. The large garden terrace with stone tables, plane trees and sunshades offers plenty of space and an enchanting view, first of the nearby church tower of San Nazzaro, but then also of the opposite side of the lake, straight onto the delta and the Ascona golf course. Inside it has white walls with dark wooden bars, blue and white chequered tables, a fireplace and, at the passage to the kitchen, a shelf with perhaps a few dozen bottles of wine.
