Saskatchewan Alfalfa Seed Producers
The SaskLeafcutters Association (SLA), formerly known as the Saskatchewan Alfalfa Seed Producers Association (SASPA), is a nonprofit organization established in 1972 to support alfalfa seed and alfalfa leafcutting bee production in Saskatchewan. The association focuses on research and extension initiatives related to alfalfa seed production and management, while promoting alfalfa as a forage crop across North America.
In 1997, the Saskatchewan Alfalfa Seed Producers Development Commission (SASPDC) was formed to aid the development of the alfalfa seed and leafcutting bee industries. Through the collection of an alfalfa seed levy, the SASPDC enables producers to fund research and development projects that benefit both sectors, while also facilitating collaboration with government agencies to support innovative agricultural policies.
