Premiere Nation De Timiskaming
Timiskaming First Nation (TFN) is located at the head of beautiful Lake Timiskaming, straddling the Ontario and Quebec borders. Known in their Algonquin language as the Saugeen Anishabeg, meaning People of the River mouth, the community has a rich history tied to the Blanche and Quinze Rivers.
Established in 1851, TFN's traditional territory originally encompassed 110,000 acres, although the reserve has since been reduced to just over 5,000 acres due to land surrenders, many of which are now in dispute. The TFN is experiencing steady growth in both population and infrastructure, demonstrating a thriving community committed to its heritage and future development.
