Located in Carleton-sur-Mer, Quebec, Phare de Carleton, also known as Carleton Lighthouse, stands proudly on Pointe Tragadigache, guiding fisherman and ships along Chaleur Bay. Originally built in 1871, the lighthouse has evolved over the years, with the current white pyramidal tower standing at thirty-two feet tall.
In 1906, a wooden lighthouse was brought in to aid fishermen, and in 1911, the current tower replaced the original structure. The lighthouse, equipped with a flashing red light, served as a vital navigational aid until it was replaced by a skeletal structure in 1970. However, the community's love for the lighthouse led to the construction of a replica in 1984, which continues to flash a red light every five seconds.
