Manoir Maplewood was built in 1864 by entrepreneur and Senator Asa Belknap Foster. At the end of the 19th century, Manoir Maplewood was converted into Maplewood Convent, a boarding school for girls. However, the declining religious population led the community of the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary to dispose of it in 1989. In the years that followed, Manoir Maplewood was left to deteriorate considerably, until Valérie Arseneau and Martin Bouchard acquired it in July 2012. After more than three years of work and restoration carried out with love and passion to bring this heritage jewel back to life, Manoir Maplewood was finally open to the public.
