Postsecondary Education Quality Assessment Board
The Postsecondary Education Quality Assessment Board (PEQAB) is an advisory agency of the Government of Ontario, responsible for making recommendations to the Minister regarding applications for ministerial consent for institutions seeking to offer degree programs or designate themselves as universities. Established to ensure that new degree programs from Ontario colleges and private institutions meet the high standards of education expected in the province, the Board conducts assessments and undertakes related research prior to making its recommendations.
PEQAB is comprised of a chair, a vice-chair, and up to nine other members, all appointed by the Minister, with terms lasting a maximum of three years. The Board typically meets every two months to review applications and maintain the quality of postsecondary education in Ontario.
