Dawn House Women's Shelter
Dawn House Women's Shelter, established in 1986 in Kingston, ON, is a nonprofit charitable organization dedicated to providing a range of housing and support services for women over the age of 16, with or without children. After closing its shelter in 2016 due to funding changes, Dawn House successfully adapted its mission and reopened in 2017, now offering transitional and long-term supportive housing.
In January 2023, Dawn House expanded its services with a second location, providing affordable housing for sixteen women through its two wings: Christine's Hope and Specialized Transitional Housing. Since its inception, the organization has facilitated over 6,000 stays, demonstrating its commitment to addressing homelessness and supporting women in the Kingston community.
