Central Ontario Co-Operative Housing Federation
The Central Ontario Co-operative Housing Federation (COCHF) is a federation of non-profit housing co-operatives in the cities of Waterloo, Kitchener, Cambridge, Brantford, and Guelph. Currently, COCHF has 42 member organizations representing approximately 3,000 units of member-controlled co-operative housing in Central Ontario.
Established in 1992 under the Co-operative Corporations Act, COCHF was founded by local housing co-operatives to facilitate networking, provide sector resources, and offer tools to support its membership. Of the 40 housing co-ops in the five cities served, 39 housing co-ops are COCHF Members, fostering a strong collaborative network.
Financed by membership dues, service fees, and revenue shared by CHF Canada, COCHF is overseen by a volunteer Board of Directors comprising members from housing co-ops in the area. With a single dedicated staff member, COCHF welcomes non-profit housing co-ops in the region to join and benefit from its collective resources.
