Halifax Planetarium, operated by Dalhousie University's Department of Physics and Atmospheric Science and supported by volunteers from the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada Halifax Centre, features a vintage Spitz Model A-1 projector dating back to the 1950s. This intimate planetarium, ideal for small groups of up to 30, fosters close interactions between the operator and the audience, providing a unique and engaging astronomical experience.
The facility, located in the Sir James Dunn Building at Dalhousie University, has a rich history of revitalization, especially noted during the International Year of Astronomy in 2009, leading to a series of popular public shows. Although public shows are currently suspended, the planetarium continues to welcome school and community groups for special presentations.
