Argyle Township Court House & Archives (ATCHA) is dedicated to preserving Argyle’s rich heritage and offering educational experiences within the community. The Argus Quarterly Newsletter, a publication highlighting the history of the Argyle region, showcases the unique blend of Acadian, Planter, and Loyalist heritage.

Located in Canada’s oldest standing courthouse, built in 1805, the Argyle Township Court House & Gaol operated until 1944 as a courthouse and jail. In 1982, it reopened as a museum and historic site, later declared a National Historic Site in 2005.

Established in 1983, the Argyle Township Court House Archives houses municipal records and serves as the first Municipal Archives in Nova Scotia. Supported by the Argyle Municipality Historical & Genealogical Society, the institution aims to preserve and promote the history of the Argyle Township Court House.
