Metchosin Schoolhouse Museum

The Metchosin Museum Society oversees the Metchosin Schoolhouse Museum and the Metchosin Pioneer Museum, both dedicated to preserving the rich history of the Metchosin area, situated on the traditional lands of the Scianew Cheanuh Beecher Bay First Nation. This region was an early settlement connected to the Hudson Bay Company's fur trading territory, formerly known as New Caledonia, highlighting its role in supplying food to the Fort Victoria population starting in 1843.

The Metchosin Schoolhouse Museum reopened on September 25, 2022, after renovations, and, along with the Pioneer Museum, showcases the legacy of pioneers and early residents of Vancouver Island. Through these museums, the Metchosin Museum Society aims to engage visitors with the area's historical significance and the lives of its first settlers.
