Kelowna Dragon Boat Club

The Kelowna Dragon Boat Club, also known as the Kelowna Dragon Boat Paddling Society, has been a pivotal part of the Kelowna community since 1999. Founded by Ivan Carothers, this Not for Profit Society, run entirely by volunteers, offers a range of paddling experiences from introductory to advanced levels. The club focuses on skill development, team legacy building, sportsmanship, and friendly competition for individuals aged 18 to 84.

Committed to giving back, the club donates 100% of funds raised during the annual Try Dragon Boating Day to the Central Okanagan Food Bank. Additionally, they host a blindfold race to support the BC Blind Sports as a tribute to their sight impaired team. Embracing the beauty of their surroundings, the club played a key role in establishing the first paddle trail in the Okanagan, a 27 km water trail open to all non-motorized water sports enthusiasts.

As organizers of the Kelowna Dragon Boat Festival, the club invites teams to compete in the picturesque setting of Tugboat Bay beach every year. The festival, held on the 1st Saturday of July, promises not only thrilling races but also a chance for teams to enjoy the Kelowna Ribfest and explore the scenic Okanagan region. With a spirited Spirit Team that competes globally and a welcoming attitude towards new members, the Kelowna Dragon Boat Club offers a vibrant community promoting sportsmanship, friendship, and healthy competition.
