At Risk Youth Study
The At-Risk Youth Study (ARYS) is a multi-year research initiative led by the BC Centre on Substance Use, focusing on street-involved youth in Vancouver. Established in 2005, the study aims to uncover the social, economic, and environmental factors influencing the health and well-being of this vulnerable population, utilizing comprehensive interviewer-administered surveys and follow-ups.
In addition to data collection, ARYS provides essential support services, including a safe drop-in facility for participants to access food, resources, and health consultations. The study also employs Community Research Associates who bring lived experience to enhance the outreach, research, and findings while fostering connections within the community.
